Be Yourself
A common mistake often made by many brides-to-be is going overboard with their make-up on their wedding day. Trying to look too different from your usual self should be avoided, aim for your natural look with just a touch of extra glamour and make-up that’s been applied to last all through the evening.
Color Matters
Achieving just the right amount of color from your wedding day make-up can be tricky. Avoid garish colors or the dramatic approach, save that for the honeymoon if you must. Remember, photos of this day will be displayed and seen by many for years to come, the last thing you want is to look back at your choice of make-up and wonder what you were thinking.
Plan Ahead
The majority of brides are going to cry at least once during some point of their wedding day. Sooner or later, even the most prepared and stoic of brides will be shedding tears as the sentimentality of the day sets in. Waterproof make-up is the most sensible approach, and about the only way to avoid looking like a raccoon halfway through the ceremony. To prevent make-up from running, it’s a good idea to keep the eye liner and mascara to a minimum on the lower lashes.
Tricks of the Trade
A simple way for keeping your foundation on as long as possible is to first apply concealer and foundation as normal, wait a few seconds, and then blot gently with a tissue. The tissue should absorb excess oils and leave behind the pigment. If you tend to remove too much foundation with this method, apply a bit more than you normally would before blotting.
Loose powder should be lightly applied with a large brush to set foundation. Applying powder onto the skin with a puff as opposed to a brush may actually cause too much of the powder to collect on the skin, ultimately causing it to sweat more than usual and appear shiny in photos.
For a perfect application of blush, choose a brush that’s approximately the size of the apples of your cheeks. Pick up some color, just enough to be visible on the tip of the brush, and tap onto the cheeks, blending toward the temples. After applying, gently blending with a clean sponge will ensure the blush doesn’t appear to be resting on top of the skin, but rather as a natural enhancement of the skin’s color.
The tried and true trick of applying powder to the lips before lipstick, blotting and then repeating is the best way to ensure lasting coverage. First coat the lips with powder, fill in the entire lip area with lip liner, and then apply the lip color. Blot the lips then add another layer of powder before the final coat of color.
To brighten the eyes, try a soft white color on the brow bone, the inner corners of the eyes, and just above and below the lash line. To make eyes look larger, a light taupe color or sandy shade on the crease of the eyelid will do the job. A soft cotton swab is useful for blending eyeliner, and eyelash curlers should always be used prior to applying mascara.

Your wedding day is looming and you are fretting because you can’t budge that bulge! Is this you? Many people battle with their weight and the fight gets fiercer for a bride because she naturally wants to look her best on the day. There seems little point in trying to convince you that you will look radiantly beautiful on the day even if you are a tad overweight. Sound familiar?
Try not to be tempted to order a wedding dress a few sizes smaller in the hope of fitting into it on the day because this will put untold pressure on you. Try instead to set your goal of losing a sensible amount of weight before a deadline date but leaving plenty of time to order your wedding gown. If you are having a dress custom made then make sure you allow even longer.
As an example, let’s say your wedding is planned for 6 months ahead. This will give you enough time to lose say 2 stone in a sensible period of time. So you need to aim at losing no more than 5Ib a month and this should be doable with a sensible healthy diet. You will need to adjust these figures depending on the number of months to your wedding date.
If you are determined then you can do it and you must not try and starve yourself because this can have an adverse effect and your body could actually go into a starvation mode and conserve and hold onto all the calories you consume. Eating a diet of fat burning healthy foods and plenty of water together with some exercise will start to feed your body’s fat burning machine…..and speed metabolism up!
Effort Makes the Difference!
Make an effort to walk instead of getting in the car for the shortest journey. I am surprised at the number of people who never walk anywhere these days or do any exercise whatsoever. No wonder people are getting podgy! If you need a reason to go walking and you don’t have a dog, then borrow someone elses and do yourself and the dog a favour. Even just a brisk regular walk twice a day will really help make a difference because it will help you shift those pounds and get your legs nicely firmed up as well. Good to have nice legs for the wedding night aye?
Stoke That Fire To Burn More Fat!
Remember that muscles are the fuel that feed the metabolic engine so you need to speed metabolism up by building them up. Not to the point of looking like Popeye but enough to make a difference. If you don’t normally do much in the way of exercise, then as well as walking try to gradually introduce some intensity workouts into your routine. This will help stoke up your metabolism which will continue to burn off calories for some time after you have stopped working out. Moderation is the key here as overdoing it could end in failure if you burnout. If you don’t fancy the gym then try a workout at home, you don’t need much to accomplish this because just using some weights will do and these can be just bags of sugar. Maybe you could use a skipping rope if you have the room for this. Using bags of sugar will be a good reminder of exactly how much 2Ibs are in weight…..heavy!
Healthy Foods
Plan your meals ahead and make sure you have included plenty of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, protein and fibre. If you get really tempted to eat something bad try this instead, a bowl of cooked porridge oats made with skimmed milk and some low calorie sugar. It’s extremely filling and will keep you satisfied for hours. The oats are very good for you as well! Another tip that works is to have a picture of your ideal woman stuck on every cupboard that stores food and also on the fridge. It will just give you that little reminder of what you want to achieve.
Need More Help?
If you follow the healthy food and exercise routine you will start to notice an increase in your energy levels and this will be extremely handy just when you need it most…..organising everything for your wedding!
If you feel though, that you need a little help, there are natural safe supplements that have come onto the market in recent years that can help lose a few extra pounds but you really do need to remember that these act as an aid and not a total solution. So, you will still have to watch what you eat and you will still have to introduce some exercise to speed metabolism up to reach your weight loss goal and look a million dollars on the day.

For those of you who are interested in the history of the “Tuxedos” the article below gives an informative insight!
THE TUXEDO
“You’ll need a Tuxedo” What do I visualise when someone says that to me? Obvious isn’t it?
Elegant tailored black jacket without tails, wide pointy silk lapels, must be worn with an immaculate white shirt, black bow tie and of course the obligatory black silk striped trousers.
That’s what I visualise when someone says, “You’ll need a Tuxedo.” I have wondered where the term Tuxedo originated. I found early references to the Algonquin Indian tribe of P ‘Tauk Sepo and the early Dutch settlers phonetic pronunciations of an unwritten language. Then in 1754 with Tuxedo Pond and/or Tuxcito Lake etc and then again in 1780 with references to the Marquis of Chastellux and yet again in 1857 with “Duck Cedar” and an area associated with duck hunting that might have become corrupted into Tuxedo! Duck Hunting! What does that have to do with the society ball?
Well, just trying to establish the origin of the word Tuxedo but I think the Tuxedo as used and associated with a particular style of mans dress suit will have originated in New York’s Tuxedo High Park and with James Brown Potter. It was Potter who as one of the founders of the famous Tuxedo Club Association of 1885, was attributed with the promotion of a distinctively elegant jacket style as favoured by the then Prince of Wales, later to become Edward the VII.
The first dance at the Tuxedo Club’s Ball in the autumn of 1886 heralded the first society outing of the legend (as legend has it) that was to become know simply as the Tuxedo.
Shocking as it was to many members of “society” at that time, because the jacket – wait for it – did not have tails! Shocking indeed Sir! However, the Tuxedo was to be adopted in all echelons of society as the form of mens attire and which was to become forever associated with good times, elegance and celebration.
It was to be adopted by male film stars, and a few female ones as the symbol of high society, success and elegance. A symbol of hope and better times to come set against a background of the American Great Depression of the 1930s! So there you have it, man’s symbol of high society, elegance, tradition, and good times! The Tuxedo!

Get That Million Dollar Look!
Every new bride wants to look a million dollars on her big day and if you are style conscious then looking great is a priority. If you watch the Academy awards just to see what designer gowns the stars are wearing then maybe it can also give you inspired ideas about the style of your wedding dress.
It seems that the style trend at the last Academy awards ceremony was for the one shoulder look as most of the couture dresses worn had a strapless neckline or one shoulder. Designers have also produced fabulous asymmetrical style wedding dresses so you can choose a chic, up to the minute one shoulder look or a stylish strapless gown that will guarantee a dramatic and glamorous entrance. If you team this style up with crystal jewellery and trendy shoes made specifically with the new bride in mind then you are all set.
Another fashion trend noticed was the amount of beading and metallic shimmer on the dresses and you can copy this quite easily. The effect will be an all over shimmer created by the scattered crystals and the effect will be more impressive if you make sure that the beading is heaviest towards the top of the dress and gradually cascading down towards the bottom of the dress. If you are on a tight budget but would like that designer all out glamour look, then this could be ideal solution because you can buy a plain dress within your price range and providing you are handy with a needle and thread, you can buy the crystal beading and craft kit book and get sewing. With a bit of effort you could look like a new bride with Academy Award style.
Every new bride wants to make a grand entrance on her wedding day and you too can look like a movie star in a unique and glamorous dress inspired by the Oscars. For more ideas you can also get the great simple glass beading book and the crystal craft kits.
